Happening in 2008
2008 promises to be a fantastic year. We have had plans for a good while to bring various members of our community together to share ways in which they have been successful that can also help us learn and develop. That's how we all grow stronger, by sharing and supporting each other. This is what we believe and, we want to practice what we preach.
I was up in NYC the last weekend of January talking with our new group sponsor, OPEN American Express small business and, thirty other Meetup Group organizers for a special two-day gathering. We spent those two days working hard on developing ways to make better Meetup events and find new ways to serve our members.
February 1 Webinar!
Sue Gilead and Amy Silverman, who were part of the NYC gathering, are offering a web-inar Friday, 1 February, at either 7 or 8 pm to offer strategies and insights on how to build financial freedom and residual income in order to empower artists to spend more time being artists and less time making ends meet.

Sue Gilead has coached hundreds of artists, freelancers, and actors in NY, Atlanta, LA, and Phoenix on this subject enabling them to lead more creative lives that are motivated by choices not financial demands. Sue teaches about the internet, real estate, info-preneuring, royalties/creative assets, the stock market, franchising and an interesting hybrid of income streams - internet franchising.
Sue and Amy are attending the MarketAmerica.com 3-day training/seminar on Internet Franchising on February 7th, 8th and, 9th in Miami and, would like to invite any group member to join us for all or part of that event and, to meet them in person for followup conversations while they are in town. They will share more information about the event on the call. But, you must be signed up.
How a webinar works:
Members use their phones to call in and hear Sue's voice AND they will go to a special website and be able to view Sue's computer screen.
So, you will need a computer with internet access and a phone simultaneous!

Some of you were contacted during our December 2007 art events in regards to your expertise or knowledge in a specific area in order to make a short informal presentation to our group, South Florida Artist Entrepreneurs. This group is now developing in Miami-Dade County after having been functioning in Broward County since August, 2007.
We are requesting from you a possible topic and date in order to pencil in your name. This also gives us the opportunity to find the best date and location for you to speak.

The Growing Organization
TheSouth Florida Artist Entrepreneurs Meetup Group the network of local artist entrepreneurs, and alumni of the "Artist as an Entrepreneur Institute" (AEI) gathers monthly to share tips and problem solving techniques, get advice on career and, discuss mentoring and business models for artists.
What it takes to be a professional artist is more than knowing your craft, you have to know how to run a business. Your materials cost money and, you need to hire assistants, you need a contract, you need to copyright your work and, you need to make a living!
