On Saturday, 8th of December, in the midst of the art fairs, Wynwood and Design District galleries opened for new work. Some galleries had extensive exhibitions in the fairs and gallery spaces. As difficult as it was to spend much more than a few minutes in each venue, a few visual highlights are provided for your enjoyment.

Rituals: Perceptions and Visualizations
at Diaspora Vibe Gallery, Madonna Bldg., Design Dist.

Rituals: Perceptions and Visualizations at Diaspora Vibe Gallery, had a group show of artists, mostly of Caribbean origins, with some very strong works. The artists from this incubator gallery have grown stronger by the year with, Asser Saint Val having been awarded a fellowship from the S. Florida Cultural Consortium. Although Saint Val did not exhibit work this year, the ceramic work of Carolina Holder and, photography of Dennton Fredrickson didn't leave any empty holes to be filled as every artist there stood strong.

Although next door to Flow Fair, I was not able to check it out due to meeting someone in a private reception the next building north of Flow. Bridge Fair was swarming with people during my visit but, because the rooms were a bit small, as can happen with hotel fairs, which meant images were impossible to get. Thank goodness for fair and gallery web sites as extra time consuming as that is.
